Heineken Brazil — 4,000 Sets of Outdoor Furniture, 3 Years of Repeat Orders

Heineken Case Study (1)

Challenge

  • Our client is a promotional products distributor based in Buenos Aires, Brazil. He represents major beer brands including Heineken, Amstel, and Miller in the local market.

  • Before 2023, his brand clients sourced all their promotional items locally in Brazil. That year, they decided to shift sourcing to China — and we were brought in to quote on a project: outdoor tables, chairs, and umbrellas.

  • The reference product was wooden outdoor furniture, made locally in Brazil. But we saw an opportunity: aluminum frames last longer, resist rust, and survive the outdoor elements far better than wood. We recommended the upgrade, and the client trusted our expertise. That first order launched a 3-year partnership.

  • Then came the headwinds. Brazil‘s peso devaluation squeezed the economy. Brand clients started using competitive bidding to drive prices down. And new competitors emerged — including one that undercut us on a glass beer mug order in 2025.

  • The competitor won that glass mug order. But they delivered two months late — arriving halfway through summer. In the promotional goods industry, that’s a fatal error. Summer campaigns live and die by timing.

  • That single delivery failure reinforced why our client keeps coming back to us: we deliver on time, even when we‘re not the cheapest.

Solution & Results

  • For the outdoor furniture, we recommended transitioning from wood to full-aluminum construction. The aluminum sets are lighter, more durable, and weather-resistant — perfect for Brazil’s varied climate. We sourced and produced 4,000 sets (1 table + 3 chairs + 1 umbrella per set) across multiple brand SKUs, with custom color matching to each brand‘s identity.

  • The color matching process was the most challenging part. Heineken uses its own proprietary color system — unrelated to Pantone — and their brand team was reluctant to send physical color samples to China. We solved it by sourcing authentic Heineken promotional items already on the Chinese market (via Taobao) as physical color references for the factory, and produced multiple sampling rounds to nail the exact shade.

  • Production took 2 months. Shipping via the client’s own freight forwarder took approximately 60 days from container loading to Buenos Aires arrival.

  • Result: 3 consecutive years of repeat orders, even as competitors entered the picture. The client values our product expertise, our ability to recommend better alternatives, and our reliability when it counts.

“This client is in his mid-40s, a face-to-face negotiator with a calm temperament. He owns a promo agency in Buenos Aires and works directly with major beer brands. He can be slow to make decisions — which sometimes creates last-minute urgency — but he’s well-connected and fair. When quality issues arise, he works with us to resolve them with the brands rather than pointing fingers. He doesn‘t obsess over technical details like printing methods or material specs — he trusts us to know that. What he cares about: better product recommendations for his brand clients, competitive pricing on comparable items, and custom color matching to each brand’s identity. And above all: delivery that arrives on time.”

Miller US — 50,000 Tin Ice Buckets, Zero Margin for Error

Challenge

    • Our client is a major promotional products agency in New York. The key account manager we work with is a 48-year-old professional with over 20 years in the promo industry. We‘ve never met in person or spoken on the phone — but we’ve built a relationship on consistent, reliable execution.

    • The order: 50,000 custom tin ice buckets for a Miller national campaign. The product required new mold development before production could even begin. Total lead time including mold creation was 4 months, with an additional 26 days of shipping time via DDP to the client‘s door in the US.

    • For US clients, the biggest risk isn’t product quality — it‘s delivery reliability. The US promo industry is highly competitive. Their clients are other brands and agencies, and any delay ripples down the entire chain. They need to trust that you won’t be the reason they miss their campaign launch date.

On-time, every time

“This US client is a key account manager at a New York promo agency. He‘s 48 years old, meticulous, process-driven, and operates with a detailed PO for every order. We’ve never met in person or even spoken over the phone — but we‘ve earned his trust through consistent execution. He doesn’t use competitor samples to drive prices down. He cares about price, quality, and on-time delivery — but above all, he cares about efficiency. He wants to place an order and not have to chase it. He wants one point of contact who knows the product, the timeline, and the risks — and communicates them honestly. In the US promo industry, where many suppliers are entry-level reps who misquote and miss deadlines, our experience and reliability are what keep him coming back.”
